- BLACK BOX - HIGHLIGHTS
-
- Congratulations! You are in possession of a great data security tool!
-
- Black Box is a file encryption program. The user interface is intuitive
- and the program is fairly easy to use. No lengthy description is necessary.
- When encrypting a file you do not have to specify output. The file will get
- encrypted but the name will not change. Black Box "remembers" which files have
- been encrypted by a tag attached to each encrypted file. When encrypting or
- decrypting a file you must be in the file's directory.
- It is important to write down or to remember the password used for
- encryption otherwise the data will be lost for ever. If you cannot remember
- your password you are even less likely to decypher the encrypted data. The
- encryption algorithm is extremely hard to break.
- All files are treated as binary.
-
-
- INSTALLATION
-
- Create a directory called BLACKBOX:
-
- mkdir BLACKBOX
-
- then insert the diskette in e.g. drive a and copy the files:
-
- cd BLACKBOX
- copy a:\*.*
-
- then modify PATH in AUTOEXEC.BAT to include C:\BLACKBOX
-
- to run Black Box simply type:
-
- bb
-
- that's all.
-
-
- A SHORT TEST
-
- The enclosed file BLACKBOX.TST is this file BLACKBOX.DOC encrypted with
- the password:
-
- abracadabra{42}
-
- Decrypt BLACKBOX.TST with this password and compare the two files. They
- should be identical.
